Fundashon Bon Intenshon

Fundashon Bon Intenshon is committed to social betterment on Curaçao through (inter)national music, sports, and arts projects with a focus on youth development

What other projects are supported by Fundashon Bon Intenshon?

For 22 years already, the foundation has been very active on all islands of the (former) Netherlands Antilles. But also in other countries, projects and youth are supported, mostly in the area of education, whether or not in combination with sports, cultural education and to support and improve the welfare of children. Just to give you an idea, we’ve listed only a small selection of the many local and international projects that have been made possible with funds and creative support from Fundashon Bon Intenshon during the past 10 years.
For Fundashon Bon Intenshon the act of giving is more important than who is doing it, therefore many projects have been supported without giving it any further publicity.

Brazil

Main sponsor of a project for children in one the poorest suburbs of Sao Paulo, lead by two Dutchmen.

The (former) Netherlands Antilles

Many projects of a socio-educational nature, in the area of education, combating poverty and music on the islands of Curaçao, Aruba, Bonaire and St. Maarten.

The Fundashon Bon Intenshon is main sponsor of the Seru Fortuna soccer team. Seru Fortuna is considered to be the poorest neighborhood of Curaçao. By an integral approach of both the neighborhood and the creation of a sportive infrastructure that is carried by the entire neighborhood, the team has become champion of Curaçao for two consecutive years already. Earlier they had also conquered the championship title of the Netherlands Antilles. Because of this approach and the resulting lower crime rate in the neighborhood, it has been nominated for the Appeltjes van Oranje [Apple of Orange] award this year.

The Netherlands

Since 2008, the foundation has been the main sponsor of the major league soccer team NEC in Nijmegen with the name “Curacao” printed on the front of the t-shirts of the main team and all other teams of the club.

Since 2010, the Fundashon has been main sponsor of the baseball team of Sparta-Feyenoord.

Since 2011, Fundashon Bon Intenshon has been one of the five major sponsors of the International Film Festival Rotterdam and since 2012 main and only sponsor of the Curaçao IFFR.

In 2003, the Fundashon was awarded the Zilveren Pluim by Art. 1, the Dutch center of expertise in the area of preventing and combatting discrimination on any ground, for its nationwide campaign aimed at instilling a positive image of Antillean youngsters living in the Netherlands. The campaign received much coverage in both local and regional media and was very positively received.

Education is high on the agenda of the Fundashon. We support a number of Curaçao youth from disadvantaged neighborhoods that do not qualify for a regular scholarship, so they may still pursue an education in the Netherlands.

In the area of sports, we support Antillean youth for whom it is difficult or even impossible to qualify for sponsoring in the Netherlands to practice their sport on an international level.

Suriname

The foundation is main sponsor of the largest school for music in Paramaribo, the patron of which is Jörgen Raymann.

Together with foundation DOEN, the Fundashon is main sponsor of the first professional youth theater school in Paramaribo, that is managed by Mrs Helen Kamperveen.

United States

The foundation finances the education and full guidance of some very talented Antillean youth from marginal neighborhoods of Curaçao who excel in sports, such as tennis and baseball.

South Africa

Fundashon Bon Intenshon is one of the two main sponsors of the youth theater project “The Miracle” in Soweto which is initiated by Herman van Veen.

As largest donor, the Fundashon helped realize the building of two shelter homes in two suburbs of Johannesburg that are being managed by Dr. Hugo Tempelman and his wife. One home is focussed on the care of children infected with the HIV virus. The other home is for the care of homeless children and orphans.

The Fundashon is also one of the main sponsors of the “Cantare Children’s Choir”
