Curacao's aanstormend talent naar North Sea Jazz
Het enthousiaste Dennis Aalse Youth Orchestra (DOYA) van Curacao doet dit jaar het North Sea Jazz festival in Rotterdam aan met meerdere optredens.
The renowned orchestra, which was founded by conductor, trumpeter, and music teacher Dennis Aalse, consists of forty young students between the ages of 10 and 20 from the Dennis Aalse Music School. Fifteen selected members will travel to Rotterdam. Their performances during North Sea Jazz is made possible by Fundashon Bon Intenshon, which is also the initiator of the Curacao North Sea Jazz Festival.
Bijzonder aan het orkest is de bezetting: naast de ‘standaard’ bigband bezetting bestaande uit blazers, ritmesectie en zang zijn ook de cello, viool en fluit een vast onderdeel. Het orkest staat bekend om zijn speelplezier en vrolijke repertoire met hits als Uptown Funk, All That Jazz en When the Saints Go Marching In. Curacao International Film Festival Rotterdam.
